Since a dozen years, the association “Fahrkultur und –Sport im Pfaffenwinkel e.V.”  organizes at Bernried-am-Starnbergersee, in Bavaria, a very attractive traditional driving event with about 30 turnouts.

This event has become since 2010 an  International Traditional Driving Event and applies the rules of AIAT. The competition takes place on the Saturday and the next day, a charming picnic drive in the beautiful surroundings of the lake gathers most of the participants of the day before.

On Friday evening, meeting of the organizers and competitors at Hotel Drei Rosen around a glass of Seckt, followed by an excellent dinner. Explanation of the road route, obligatory passages and questions are answered in the merry atmosphere of the Bavarian inns !

Then on Saturday morning, Presentation within the cloister of Bernried, judged by Christian de Langlade (F), Giuseppe del Grande (I) and Hartmuth Huber (D). A Road Track of 13,4 km along the lake and through the forest was even better than the previous years. On the afternoon there was a very well designed  Cone driving test, succeeded by a Prize-giving crowning the victory of Battista Battiston (I) with a single horse, Christian Mettler (CH) with a pair and von Annette von Gleichenstein (D) with a team. Andreas Veser (D) with his attractive curricle and Hans-Jürg Wildung (D) leading a beautiful omnibus, were also for the honor.

The overall niveau of the drivers keeps rising. Judging such a variety of turnouts, from a modest rural Chaise to a flamboyant town Mail Phaëton, was very interesting.

A very happy initiative of the excellent organizers Günter Ortner and Sepp Steigenberger, Mayor of Bernried, was the new location of the stables, situated at 200m of the presentation and handiness. The competitors appreciated this improvement greatly.

The landscape around the lake of Starnberg is a pleasure in itself and the happy ambiance of the participants contributes to the success of this charming event for the enjoyment of all !  Bravo Bravissimo !!!
